Need a boost in the morning this shake will give you a good start to your day! Simple and delicious the sugars in this will give you a little peep in your step to get you going. Dates, bananas, and coconut oil are in my go tos for natural energy boosts. One of my favorite snacks is to dip or fill dates with cashew butter! I also make this for the girls without the Vega One.
Banana Boost Protein Shake
Makes 1 serving
1c cashew milk, or non dairy milk of choice (used So Delicious Cashew Milk)
3 dates, pitted
1 large/x-large frozen banana
1 scoop plain or vanilla protein powder (used Vega One French Vanilla) I omit this for the girls and make the Banana Boost Shake shown above.
Ice, optional (didn’t use this time)
In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend together cashew milk, banana, and optional protein powder until and or ice until smooth. Add dates and pulse until dates are chopped and blended to desired consistency. Enjoy!
As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I received Vega products to use in creating this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me but because it has been my plant based protein of choice since before I started blogging. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.

Do you have any trouble with dates getting stuck in the Vitamix blades? I made Vega’s Pumpkin Protein Pancakes for breakfast yesterday, and the dates kept getting stuck. I wonder if I should chop them up first.

I don’t but I usually only use dates in my Vitamix for shakes and smoothies. I do cut them in half to get the pits out to make sure there aren’t any pieces left. If I am making powder balls or other things with dates I use my food processor and don’t have any problems. I am a little confussed though as the Pumpkin Protein Pancakes/Waffles don’t have dates. Did you add them to yours?

I used this recipe from Vega: http://vegasport.com/vega-life/recipe-center/high-protein-pumpkin-pancakes/#.UmaPeyTOyB8. It has 4 dates, though I doubled the recipe, so had 8.

I haven’t made that recipe, I will have to try it.
