Switching up my workouts, adding in more, and all the on the go of the summer seems to be taking a little toll on me and my body and so I’ve been trying to really make recovery a priority. Especially with all the travel. So Golden Turmeric Milk is making a regular appearance again. There are even already made bottled Turmeric Milks that you can buy on the go, like REBBL. Since it’s hot I’ve been enjoy it iced. Until I was inspired by a fellow blogger who posted her delicious Tropical Turmeric Smoothie. I haven’t enjoyed a turmeric smoothie since last summer, far too long! Since I’m on a smoothie bowl kick I’ve been making turmeric smoothie bowls regularly since. They hit the spot and they are so good for recovery. I like turmeric for it’s amazing anti-inflammatory properties, the fact that it’s packed with antioxidants, and great for your immune system. I didn’t realize until reading Lindsay’s post that it can also help fight against oxidative stress in the body (which is needed during summer due to sun exposure and travel). Crazy, and even more of a reason to enjoy it!
So since I started enjoying these turmeric smoothie bowls I’ve tried lots of different frozen fruits, mangos, pineapple, bananas, cherries, blueberries and combinations of. While there are many variations I like this is one of my favorites. Some, like with cherries or blueberries, while delicious and with great nutritional benefits just weren’t the prettiest. So my favorites are ones with pineapple, mango, and banana or combination of. They not only taste good but they are a beautiful golden color that highlights the turmeric and makes me smile! I also like ginger so I tend to add a little extra, I like a little bite.
Weather you are looking for a recovery smoothie bowl, one that’s good for your health, or just looking to switch things up this one is definitely worth a try! Easy to get ingredients too! If you haven’t tried turmeric you can get Simply Organic Turmeric at Target, which if you’re like me your there all the time anyways.
Tropical Turmeric Smoothie Bowl
Makes 2 servings
Golden Turmeric Milk
2c non dairy milk (So Delicious Unsweetened Almond or Coconut Milk)
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp fresh grated ginger, or more to taste
1/2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of black pepper
optional sweetener of choice, optional (I omit sweetener when adding to smoothies/smoothie bowls until making them as usually it isn’t needed)
Smoothie Bowl
2c frozen pineapple or mango, or combination of
1 banana, optional
1-2 scoops vanilla protein, optional (Vega Clean Protein, Vanilla)
Toppings
fresh fruit, coconut, nuts, seeds, ect optional (some of my favs are fresh fruit, Navitas Naturals Caramel Coconut Chips, Isadore Cinnamon Spice Nuts)
You will need to make the Golden Turmeric Milk ahead of time. In a saucepan over medium heat bring milk, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, and pepper to a boil whisking occasionally. Reduce to simmer for 5 mins. Place in a glass jar or bottle the refrigerator to chill. Once chilled you can make your smoothie/smoothie bowls. If you want to only make 1 serving you can reserve the Golden Turmeric Milk for a another day, I wouldn’t save it for more than 2 days, and only use half of the fruit and protein listed above.
To make smoothie bowl blend chilled Golden Turmeric Milk, frozen fruit, and optional protein in a Vitamix, or high speed blender using the tamper tool until smooth. If wanting to make a smoothie you can add a little non dairy milk. Add optional toppings. Enjoy!

I’m seeing this golden milk stuff everywhere! I too have been using turmeric lately, but not in this form. Perhaps I should try out this golden milk. Your smoothie bowl has such a nice rich color to it!

Yes! I like to drink it in the fall and winter warm, in salads, and then for smoothies and juices with apples, citrus, and or carrots but I’m loving it in smoothie bowls right now. If you try it let me know what you think!

Thank you Lindsay and for the inspo. I can’t believe it took me so long to make them. I was always doing carrot, citrus, or apples with turmeric in smoothies and juices which is good but this is just something I crave lately!

This sounds so great! I really love working out and pushing hard as it’s completely de-stressing, but it’s not so great on the body. I’ve been popping glucosamine, but definitely have been wanting to incorporate more turmeric and healing foods in. This will be a great way to start!
