Today’s recipe is sponsored by REBBL, maker of my favorite super herb Elixirs on the go!
I’ve talked recently about my love for turmeric, especially for recovery. Turmeric supports a healthy immune system as it’s packed with antioxidants and includes great anti-inflammatory properties. I didn’t realize when I first fell in love that it can also help fight against oxidative stress in the body (which is needed during summer due to sun exposure and travel). Along with going into some the amazing health benefits of turmeric in my recent Tropical Turmeric Smoothie Bowl post I also talked about how there are already bottled turmeric beverages out there, like REBBL’s Turmeric Golden-Milk. I love REBBL super herb Elixirs, they are more than just a delicious bottled beverage. If you are a regular reader you know I don’t usually do sponsored posts. If I do it is only products I love and my family or I consume and buy on a regular basis. It’s also about the company behind the product and REBBL uses organic ingredients, fair trade when available, and is made with real ingredients (no thickeners). Their name says it all, Roots Extracts Berries Bark and Leaves. Their beverages are dairy free, organic coconut milk based, and all vegan with the exception of their Turmeric Golden-Milk and their Matcha Latte as those both include organic honey. You can read more about their sourcing, philosophy, and how they give back with Not For Sale. Feeling good when I drink it and the company behind the product, REBBL is one of these products I love. Perfect to have on hands for those times I want turmeric milk but don’t have time to make it. Grab a Maca Cold Brew Or Maca Mocha (no coffee) for those times I need a quick pick me up. Living in a fast paced world I can still have the healthy superfoods I want when things get crazy and I don’t have time to whip things up or while on the go. I actually drive over 30 minutes to the closest local store that carries them and stock up. It’s a Co-Op and they are very helpful and will order what I want if they aren’t in stock and it usually only takes a day to get them. They are one of my favorite grab and go drinks and I wish they were more easily available here where I am. They are still expanding so I’m hoping soon they will be in stores closer to home. When we were in California they were everywhere! It was great since we were on the go and didn’t have a kitchen or big fridge I could just stop in and get one of my favorite drinks. If you are like me and not lucky enough to have REBBL in your Whole Foods and other local stores you can request them or check with other local healthy stores or Co-Ops.
Like I said one of my favorite REBBL Elixirs is Turmeric Golden-Milk, along with the maca ones of course! Recently the day after a chiropractic appointment I woke up and realized since I forgot to make golden turmeric milk the night before so I grabbed a REBBL Turmeric Golden-Milk, to help with inflammation. As I was sitting there sipping it I got thinking about banana bread. Drinking the elixir was like a comfort food and it isn’t magic but I feel good drinking them and thought I really should try making banana bread with it. Well life gets crazy, it’s so hot and humid out, and I couldn’t wait so late that night after the girls soccer I soaked my chia seeds and oats with Turmeric Golden-Milk. It was a nice change since typically I only drink my REBBL, usually on the go, or blend them into smoothies/smoothie bowls. While I could have enjoyed this cold, which I have done since, heating the bananas and then adding the soaked chia and oats to slightly warm give me that warm banana bread comfort food feeling. If you’ve had cooked or fried bananas you know the flavor is so different from the fresh fruit. Instantly you may think of banana bread, which I don’t know about you but I don’t get eating a fresh banana. I’m not going to lie the color is a little bright when you pull it out in the morning, my oldest was like wow, but if you make turmeric milk or use it in smoothies you are probably use to this. If you are new to turmeric don’t worry once you smell those bananas and take a big it won’t matter what color it is or what it looks like. There are a couple options, you can enjoy this cold adding fresh bananas for quick on the go. You could cook the bananas and then add those cold. My favorite way thought only takes an extra 5 minutes in the morning to heat up some coconut oil in a pan, lightly fry the bananas, and mix in the turmeric chia mixture. I do like to cook a few banana slices first to use for topping but this only takes a extra couple minutes and is optional. Post workout add in a scoop of vanilla protein powder, Vega is my favorite, and remaining turmeric Golden-Milk to reach desired consistency. I also like to add a few of my favorite Maca Maple Cashews!
Golden Banana Bread Chia Oats
Makes 1 serving
3 TBSP chia seeds
2 TBSP gluten free oats
1c REBBL Turmeric Golden Milk, reserving remaining from the bottle if wanting to thin it out or add protein in the morning
1 large ripe banana
1 tsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Variations:
-To top with bananas, as shown, slice half a banana and cook in coconut oil before cooking the mashed banana. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until golden in color.
-Top with Maca Maple Cashews or other toppings as desired.
-For a protein option, in the morning stir in a scoop of vanilla protein powder (I like Vega Clean Protein and Performance Protein, a clean plant-based option) and remaining REBBL Turmeric Golden-Milk to reach desired consistency.
In a glass jar or bowl with a lid mix together chia seeds, oats, and golden turmeric milk. After 10 minutes stir again to ensure you don’t have clumps and place in the refrigerator overnight. Heat coconut oil in a skillet and add ripe banana. Mash the banana with a fork and cook with the coconut oil over medium heat for a few minutes until softened, stir in cinnamon. Stir in soaked golden milk chia seed mixture and warm for 1-2 minutes. Top with toppings of choice, enjoy!

I’m on the fence about turmeric. There are applications that I LOVE it in, and then I’ll have it and be like… um no. But this sounds pretty darn good!
awhiskandtwowands
I can see that, I wasn’t sure at first but I love it now especially with cinnamon and a little sweetness. The caramelized bananas definitely help balance it out and it’s so good! I hope you give this a try and and it changes your mind.

I think I’m with you when you said the color is a little bright. That was definitely my first reaction but like you said the smells and tastes overpower the color. I do think my favorite part of it is the caramelized bananas, such a treat!
awhiskandtwowands
Yes it is bright but it’s natural color, I think of it like beets and their color but again it’s one of my favorite foods! This one definitely smells and tastes amazing and it’s so good for you! The caramelized bananas really balance it out and make you feel like your eating dessert (but it’s not overly sweet) for breakfast!

awhiskandtwowands
Kind of but really it tastes like caramelized bananas, banana bread, and ginger. I guess I might not be the person to ask because I love turmeric with cinnamon, ginger, and slightly sweetened. I mostly taste the ginger with the Turmeric Golden Milk.
