Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and long weekend. I don’t know about you but I’m ready to start my Monday with a healthy breakfast and get in a get back to barre and routine. Since it’s cold here I’m craving oatmeal, although if you were following along on social media yesterday we swapped our Scone Sunday for Smoothie Bowl Sunday and enjoyed smoothie bowls even though temps were below freezing. On the menu this morning though Golden Turmeric Cranberry Oatmeal!
As I said I’ve been all about the oats, even making what I wanted to call SmOAThies (combo of oatmeal and smoothie bowl) for the last few months. Many twists of cravings like chai, turmeric, cranberries, and caramelized bananas. Not the usual pumpkin I’m craving this time of year. Ones on regular rotation being my Chai Chia Nana Oatmeal, Pumpkin Pie Overnight Oats Smoothie Bowl, and then this Golden Turmeric Cranberry Oatmeal. Also variations of these swapping the bananas in my Chai Chia Nana Oatmeal for cranberry sauce (or making my Cranberry Superfood Oatmeal on mornings I have a little more time) and making my Pumpkin Pie Overnight Oats Smoothie Bowl with golden turmeric milk. These aren’t new though as I was enjoying Golden Banana Bread Chia Oats, another twist with more chia seeds and banana, over a year ago. I’m like a broken record sometimes when it comes to food and when I get in my cravings I keep with it making variations until I get bored, find something new, or in the case of cranberry sauce run out. Loving my cranberries for months in the fall and winter usually making a batch a couple weeks before Thanksgiving, for Thanksgiving and enjoying them after, and then one last batch in December then I move on. Then back to bananas, haha. I’m not a huge banana fan and don’t usually eat them raw, I use to pre workout but haven’t for a few years and until my caramelized banana craving hit months ago I would go weeks without eating a banana. Now with oatmeal and topping my toast I typically make them at least twice a week, sometimes days in a row but I try to switch things up a little.
Many know my love for golden turmeric milk and turmeric in general. I especially love it for recovery post workout. Turmeric also supports a healthy immune system as it’s packed with antioxidants and includes great anti-inflammatory properties. This Golden Turmeric Cranberry Oatmeal is a quick and easy post workout breakfast for mornings I get my workout in early. That is why I have noted adding protein as an option, see notes in the recipe. Cranberries are full of antioxidants, and high in vitamin C and fiber. and high in vitamin C and fiber. They also fight inflammation, reduce the risk of heart disease, and help prevent ulcers and yeast infections and may help prevent cancer. Here are a few more of my favorite ways to use turmeric and cranberries.
This week will be full of cranberries, turmeric lattes, and lots and lots of fruits and veggies! Maybe even more smoothies sipped in sub freezing temps while wearing lots of layers.
Today being Monday doesn’t just mean getting back to school or work and a fresh start to a new week but also Meatless Monday! My co-host Deborah and I look forward to seeing what’s cooking in your kitchen right now and hope you link up with us for Meatless Monday below or tell us in the comments.
Servings |

- 1/2 c rolled oats, gluten free if desired
- 1 TBSP chia seeds (used white chia seeds)
- 1 c golden turmeric milk (homemade, or store bought I like REBBL)
- 1/3 c cranberry sauce (homemade, see notes)**
- 1/2-1 scoop vanilla protein powder, optional* (I like to use Vega)
- toppings as desired (Navitas Organics Golden Berries)

- There are two ways to make this, first my quick and easy way and then I will share a stovetop method.
- Quick and easy I prep the oats the night before mixing the golden turmeric milk, oats, and chia seeds in a jar and placing them in the refrigerator overnight. I use a glass mason jar.
- In the morning remove oats from the fridge, give them a quick stir. If adding protein powder I stir that in and extra milk to reach desired consistency adding a little extra if I'm going to be heating them. If I'm going to heat them I warm them in the microwave.
- Top with cranberries and desired toppings.
- Alternatively you can make these on the stove top using golden turmeric milk to cook your oats and adding chia seeds in towards the end.
- Enjoy!
*If using protein powder you will need extra golden turmeric milk to reach desired consistency. If I know I'll be adding protein powder I usually decrease oats to 1/3 of a cup and end up using just over a cup of golden turmeric milk. Another delicious option is to make a pumpkin turmeric version without adding chia you can make my Pumpkin Pie Overnight Oats Smoothie Bowl using golden turmeric milk.
**Homemade cranberries I use this cranberry sauce or I've been making a simple sauce with just cranberries, orange juice, and coconut palm sugar or maple syrup/honey. To make just enough cranberries for a serving of oatmeal or to add a boost adding goji berries you can make the one I use in my Cranberry Superfood Oatmeal.

Okay, you’ve convinced me. It’s time to get into oatmeal for breakfast. The weather keeps waffling around, so my body hasn’t been able to commit to fall/winter morning fare yet!
