Sometimes you just need a green smoothie, a Gingerly Pear Smoothie! While this green smoothie is delicious it can also help you feel better. Need to rehydrate and get some good for you nutrition after having a little too much to eat or drink? Or maybe you’re having stomach issues, like sluggish stomach. Not that you need a reason to enjoy this good for you green smoothie.
While food is not a cure all many foods have helpful healthy benefits. Without getting into too many details I created this Gingerly Pear Smoothie for S, as it’s hard to find watermelon to make one she was loving all summer long. Having tummy issues last year, finding out she has issues with lactose and dairy for starters, I had to create a new smoothie for her to get in some fiber and a few other things and this is it! While she would probably love to just drink chia drinks all day and eat all the fruits and veggies let’s be honest she’s a teen and sometimes she just wants her chia drinks and all the fruit, and carbs. Like the whole family a carbivore!
This is a nutrient dense smoothie made with simple ingredients and each one has a purpose, so let’s break it down!
Pears are high in fiber, vitamin C, and vitamin K. They have more fiber then apples, oranges, and peaches.
Ginger is very soothing for the tummy, despite it’s spicy bite, and can help with nausea and indigestion.
Greens are always a good idea and give you a power punch of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. They are packed with fiber and also contain protein.
Chia Seeds- Chia seeds are a great source of healthy essential fatty acids, containing more omega-3 fatty acids than salmon! They also contain protein and fiber, being one of the easiest digestible plant proteins. The little seeds are also packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants.
So all those good for you nutrients you might wonder how it tastes, refreshing with a little sweetness and bite! Don’t worry about the chia seeds they are ground in, unless you’re like me and sprinkle some on top. This smoothie is on the thinner side but it will depend on how much water you use and if you add ice, I like mine cold so I always blend in some ice especially when not using any frozen ingredients.
Gingerly Pear SmoothieSometimes I will also add Navitas Organics Daily Superfood Detox Boost, no it isn’t the DETOX you’re probably thinking of but a superfood blend to help the gut and help bring balance to your internal system. It’s probiotics and enzymes for digestive health, chia, ginger, wheatgrass, chlorella, and milk thistle. Sometimes after a big day of food and drinks I like to sip this to reset and feel better. While I don’t like diets and detox I do believe in resetting the body and packing it with good for you nutrition from time to time when needed without deprivation. So I added it as an option below as it’s the only other thing I’ve ever added, aside from wheatgrass or chlorella which is in the blend, to this Gingerly Pear Smoothie blend and only on occasion but was debating on adding the Beauty Boost next time as like I said it’s just a good, good for you, green smoothie!
