Love green smoothies! I got my youngest started on them over a year ago and at first we were calling them Dinosaur Smoothies and she was so excited to tell everyone she was eating leaves! There are so many green smoothies out there. Do you have a favorite? Do your kids drink them? Haven’t tried a green smoothie yet? Start with the basic green smoothie and experiment from there and create your own favorites!
Basic Green Smoothie:
1 c non dairy milk (we use Silk unsweetened almond milk) or water
1/2- 1 banana (we usually use frozen bananas as it makes smoothies thick and creamy)
big handful or two of fresh organic spinach and or kale
ice (optional)
Optional Add Ins:
Protein Powder (favorite in our house is Vega Energizing Smoothie Tropical Tango)
Berries- Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries (try adding 1 TBSP cocoa powder!)
Cherries (another one good with 1 TBSP cocoa powder)
Pineapple
Mango
Orange (If we add oranges we usually swap almond milk for fresh citrus juice)
Pineapple
Kiwi
Avocado
Chia Seeds
Raw Shelled Hemp Seeds
Put milk (or juice or water), bananas, greens, ice (optional) and any add ins into a blender or Magic Bullet, blend, and enjoy!
Cherries need to be pitted. Mangos, oranges, pineapples, kiwi, avocado peeled and cut into chunks. Fresh or frozen fuit can be used.
The options are endless these are just some of our green smoothie go tos.
