Some mornings are just rough and you need a little help. Up late one night I knew the next morning was going to be rough so I went to the cupboard and grabbed a couple of my favs to help make my morning better. When I woke up I looked at my jar of Mocha Protein Oats and well it looked a little dull, like really dull just a jar of creamy brown oats… BORING! Yep I was going to need a little more excitement to start my morning off on the right foot so what did I do, what any normal person would do I grabbed some ice cream. What you don’t reach for ice cream in the morning? Ok usually I don’t either but I got this voice, my mother’s to be exact, saying ice cream for breakfast. Crazy I know but my mom will give the girls ice cream when we are up there, sometimes even root beer floats because she is grandma. She offers to grab me some too and every now and then I grab a bowl. No it isn’t the normal, usually it is pancakes for breakfast, but something fun. So back to my oats…. I added a scoop of Cappuccino Cashew Ice Cream, so good if you haven’t tried it is so good as is or affogato (espresso poured over top). It was so good seriously they made my morning and day! Not something you do every day but sometimes you need a little something fun and extra. Of course to recreate them I had to have them again, and then again to try with Coco Whip Lite for a lighter version. Really thought this is way better than many coffee shop beverages. Oats will fill you up and with the chia you get fiber and omegas. With my protein powder I got vitamins, minerals, greens, superfoods, and protein. Some healthy fats and calcium in my milk and ice cream, this breakfast had me full and happy past lunch time. So next time you know you are going to need a little something (since they are best made the night before) these are worth trying, these oats live up to their name and really will mocha, I mean make, your morning!
Note: These are best made the night before.
Mocha Your Morning Protein Oats
Makes 1 serving
1c non dairy milk, or 1/2c milk and 1/2c brewed coffee (used So Delicious Almond Milk)
1/3c Purely Elizabeth Ancient Grain Oats OR 1/3c oats and 1 tsp chia seeds
1 scoop mocha or chocolate protein (used Vega One Mocha, Vega Sport Mocha also delicious)
1 scoop coffee flavored ice cream or coconut whipped cream, optional (used So Delicious Cappuccino Cashew Ice Cream and So Delicious Coco Whip Lite)
drizzled with Sweet Spreads Chocolate Brownie CocoNutter, optional
In a jar, or shaker cup works great as does a Vitamix or blender, mix together milk and protein. If using a shaker cup remove the metal ball, stir in oats and chia seeds and place in the refrigerator overnight. In a pinch you can whip this together and put it in the fridge for 20 minutes but it won’t be nearly as thick and the oats and chia won’t have softened much. In the morning top with coconut whip cream or coffee flavored ice cream and drizzle with coconutter if desired. Enjoy!
These oats will Mocha your morning! @VegaTeam @So_Delicious @purelyelizabeth #fitfam #FitFluential #SweatPink #glutenfree #coffee Share on X
Meatless Monday link up, find more great recipes:
While I do receive some Vega products from time to time, which I listed as an option in this recipe, I do purchase much of it on my own. It has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging. Even though most Vega products used are purchased by myself I do add this disclaimer. I do not make any money off any Vega sales or posts. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.

In our house it is! 😉 I highly recommend living outside the box and having a little fun every now and then. Ice cream in the morning, on a Monday, can’t help but have a great day and week when it starts out like this! Of course we don’t do this every morning or too often which makes it even more special!

Who wouldn’t want ice cream for breakfast – this is only logical – I do love the coco whip topping though too – I tend to eat it out of the container. It’s wicked good! I’ve been without coffee for about 3 weeks but this makes me want a big bowl of oats covered in coffee – I’d have energy for days!!

I don’t know either! The Coco Whip Lite is a great option for guilt free indulging! It is so good! I went without coffee for 8 days and it got easier but it just wasn’t for me. A week here or there to reset is do able but I enjoy the whole relaxing, smell, everything that goes with it. Good news….. this is made with Vega Mocha and you can make it without coffee and still get your “coffee”!
