In my attempt to find something new so I am not always grabbing my sprouted toast with almond butter and banana in the morning or a smoothie I came up with this Apple Toast. I love apple strudels and apple turnovers and with National Apple Strudel Day fast approaching it was my inspiration for this.
Apple Toast
Makes 2 slices of toast
2 pieces of sprouted bread, plain or cinnamon raisin (used Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 Cinnamon Raisin Sprouted Whole Grain Bread and Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Bread)
1 apple, thinly sliced
Lucuma Almond Butter Sauce (recipe below)
dash of cinnamon
Pre heat oven to 350. Spread Lucuma Almond Butter Sauce on one side of sprouted bread, layer half of the apple slices on top of the sauce, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Repeat with the other slice of bread. Place in the oven and back for approximately 10 minutes until apples have softened and bread has toasted. Alternatively you can heat apple slices in the microwave to soften and can place on top of sprouted toast or bread spread with Lucuma Almond Butter Sauce and sprinkle with cinnamon. Enjoy!
Lucuma Almond Butter Sauce
Makes enough for 4 slices of Apple Toast, depending on amount spread on bread
1TBSP lucuma powder
1 rounded TBSP almond butter
2TBSP raw agave or pure maple syrup
1/2tsp pure vanilla
Mix almond butter, agave or maple syrup, vanilla, and lucuma powder together until smooth.
