Today is National Black Forest Day, which is one of my favorite desserts! I came up with this recipe as healthy way to fix my black forest cake craving!
If you haven’t tried chia you should! Chia is very filling and full of Omega 3. These Black Forest Chia Pudding recipes, protein version and non protein version, are great for breakfast, dessert, or after a workout.
Black Forest Protein Chia Pudding
3 TBSP organic chia seeds
1 1/4c almond or coconut milk, divided (used Silk Vanilla Almond Milk)
1/2 frozen banana
1/2 scoop chocolate protein powder (used Vega One Chocolate)
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder (used Vega One French Vanilla)
1c frozen dark pitted cherries, thawed
Optional: Chocolate shavings and or cherry for topping
Mix chia seeds and 3/4 cup of milk together and refrigerate overnight. The longer it sits the thicker it will get, I let mine sit overnight. You could let it sit less but it wait until it has soaked up most or all of the milk. Remove from refrigerator and add chocolate protein powder and additional 1/4 cup of milk. In a magic bullet or blender pulse cherries, don’t blend smooth, set aside. In a magic bullet or blender combine banana, 1/4 cup of milk, and vanilla protein powder to make the vanilla cream layer. Layer the chocolate chia pudding, vanilla cream, and cherriesor top chocolate chia pudding with cherries and vanilla cream. Top with optional chocolate shavings and cherry. Enjoy!

1/2-1 tsp sweetener, to taste (optional)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1c frozen dark pitted cherries, thawed
