Another goji berry shake as I am really enjoying them right now. If you haven’t tried goji berries you need to try them! You can get organic ones in bulk at Whole Foods to buy a small amount to try. Goji berries are an antioxidant superfood that I like to add to trail mix, oatmeal, cookies, shakes, or just grab a handful with some savi seeds as a snack. Packed with vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients including carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats and soluble fiber they are a great addition to any diet. They even make chocolate covered goji berries that are delicious. Like my Goji Berry Protein Shake I like to enjoy after a morning workout with Vega Performance Protein. This version I make with chocolate, almond butter, and cacao nibs. This time I made it in the afternoon before a busy afternoon and evening out with Vega One.
Cacao Goji Berry Shake
Makes 1
1 c almond milk, or non dairy milk of choice (used Delicious Almond Milk Plus for added protein)
1 Medjool date, pitted
1 TBSP raw cashew butter or almond butter (used Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter)
2 TBSP Goji berries (used Navitas Naturals Dried Goji Berries)
1 TBSP cacao nibs (Navitas Naturals Cacao Nibs, could also use Sweet Cacao Nibs but I think it is sweet enough)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (used Vega One Chocolate for shake pictured, I like it with Vega Performance Protein Chocolate after a workout, or Choc-A-Lot Vanilla Protein Smoothie depending on needs when making it)
1 tsp gelatinized maca (used Navitas Naturals)
ice
In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend everything together until smooth. If you want a little texture blend everything except the cacao nibs and pulse them in last or top it with some cacao nibs. Enjoy!
As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I receive Vega products, which I used as an option in this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me but because it has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging and some recipes are made with Vega products I purchase. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.
