It’s almost Halloween which is a holiday I don’t get into too much and really don’t look forward to because of all the candy. Every year I say I am going to stay away from all those sweets but more often than not my cravings cave and I give in. Once I do the sugar grabs hold of me and takes control and I am hooked. Last year I did pretty good but in the past few years my downfall is helping out with school parties and other things and going hours without eating, I usually have a snack in my bag but no time to eat it. So this year I decided to have a little fun but also try to prepare for such a day in advance and I created this concoction called the Candy Craving Crushing Cauldron Smoothie. I know a long weird name and you are probably wondering what the magic is behind this crazy cauldron shake. There is no magic just a smoothie packed with protein, fiber, healthy fats, and goodness that I can sip on while on my way to the crazy Halloween parties that will keep me full and keep the candy cravings away! The bottom layer is very thick and almost like pudding and the chocolate will help satisfy any chocolate craving you might have. It is packed with protein, spinach, pumpkin, and cacao. The top oozy layer is non dairy milk, banana, spinach, and avocado! To test out this shake I had it on one of my craziest busiest days of the week. The day where I get up and rush to get the girls ready, my workout in, myself ready, and then go help at the girls school for 5 hours in the middle of the day over the lunch hour.
Candy Craving Crushing Cauldron Smoothie
Makes 1 serving
Bottom Layer:
3/4c non dairy milk, or you can use water if you prefer (used So Delicious Unsweetened Almond Milk Plus, for the extra protein)
1/3c pumpkin puree
1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1 TBSP cacao or cocoa powder (used Navitas Naturals Cacao Powder)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (used Vega One Chocolate in this one to get an extra dose of vitamins and minerals)
big handful of spinach
Top Layer:
3/4c non dairy milk (used So Delicious Unsweetened Almond Milk Plus, for the extra protein)
big handful of spinach
1/2 frozen banana
1/4 avocado
In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend together ingredients for the bottom layer (milk, pumpkin, spices, cocoa, protein powder, and spinach) until smooth. The mixture will be very thick, almost a pudding consistency, you can add ice if desired. Pour into a large glass and rinse out the blender container. Blend together top layer ingredients (milk, spinach, banana, and avocado) until smooth. Pour over top of the bottom layer. Enjoy!
As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I receive some Vega products, which I used as an option in this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me, as I do purchase it on my own as well, but because it has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging and some recipes are made with Vega products I purchase. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family. I do not make any money off any Vega sales or posts.
