I was waiting and waiting for cranberries to get back in stores. I was even going to drive to a cranberry festival in a neighboring state that is how much I love them! I finally got my hands on some and stocked up putting fresh cranberries in the freezer. I had to make a cranberry shake for breakfast one morning and it was so good. I make a cranberry sauce with lemon zest, lemon juice, and coconut palm so I used some fresh raw ones and lemon in this shake. I really like tart cranberries so I didn’t add any sweeteners to this one but if I am in the mood for something a little sweeter I add a little Stevia In The Raw or coconut palm sugar to it. This is also delicious with orange as well.
Cranberry Protein Shake
Makes 1 serving
1 c almond milk or non dairy milk of choice (used So Delicious Unsweetened Almond Milk Plus)
1 scoop natural or vanilla protein powder (used Vega One Natural or Vega Viva Vanilla Protein Smoothie is very delicious)**
1 lemon, juice from lemon and optional zest *
1 c fresh or frozen cranberries
dash of cinnamon, optional
*This is also good with juice and a little zest from an orange.
** If looking for a version with kids and you don’t want to add protein powder I find this shake delicious with an apple or yogurt (I like coconut milk greek style) to thicken it up.
In a Vitamix blend together milk, protein powder, juice of one lemon and optional lemon zest, cranberries, and optional cinnamon and or sweeteners until smooth. Enjoy!
As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I receive Vega products, which I used as an option in this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me but because it has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging and some recipes are made with Vega products I purchase. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.
