When thinking about my favorite smoothies I think my favorite would be my Nutty Espresso Smoothie Bowl or my Nutty By Nature Smoothie, well if you asked me this week. While I like chocolate smoothies, green smoothies, and smoothies in general there is something about the simple combination of dates and cashew butter or cashews. I was thinking about my favorite smoothie and how to put a twist on in for Valentine’s…. what’s better than a delicious smoothie? When you know that you have to make it twisting one of your favorite smoothies because the perfect name pops in your head! Yes for me this was big because it doesn’t happen often. Usually I make something and then I’m stuck on what to call it, and even more so sometimes what to write about it. I have to say I have come along way in that department. I noticed that when I was contacted about an old post and I looked at it and while the recipe was great the post had 2 sentence. I guess there is something to be said about straight to the point, and letting my pictures speak for themselves but the photos weren’t even that good. Another thing that has come along way in the 3 years (give or take when this is posted since 3 years exactly on Valentine’s Day is when my husband bought my domain).

Oh so the name… Dream DATE Smoothie! Yes when I think about a cashew date smoothie I just can’t help but think about how creamy and dreamy it is! So since everyone’s dream date would be different the recipe is lose to make it what you want. What does that mean? Basically the components are there and you adjust to suit your tastes. If you are quick and in a hurry you can use cashew milk, want something creamier and more indulging use homemade cashew milk OR just blend in soaked cashews and water. Add in your dates, because what would a date smoothie be without dates? If you need a little protein, because hey muscles, yeah I won’t go there! 😉 Then because it’s Valentine’s Day a little hint of pink so raspberries, but not too many for me since I want to still taste the dates and cashew. Like it creamy, like really creamy and dreamy then add in frozen banana. Oh and what would a dream date be without a little spice? So yep a little cinnamon! What were you thinking? Haha! Yes when recipes that are delicious, with good names, and my goofy sense of humor kicks in things just turn out right. Cheers to this delicious creamy Dream Date Smoothie, and the perfect way to start your Valentine’s Day, or any day! Well and maybe a side of chocolate!

So what would you put in your Dream Date Smoothie?

Dream Date Smoothie
Makes 1 serving
1c cashew milk, or 1/4c raw cashews and 3/4c water (used So Delicious Unsweetened Cashew Milk in photograph)*
2 Medjool dates, pitted
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4c frozen raspberries, and or 1/2 a frozen banana
1 scoop vanilla protein, optional* (used Vega Vanilla Sport Protein, the vanilla protein I love)

*If using cashews soak them for 4 hours if possible, using cashews will result in a creamier richer smoothie. I like to use this method when not adding protein. If not adding protein you may also like to add 1/2 frozen banana and or 1 tablespoons of soaked chia seeds.

In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend everything together until smooth. Enjoy!

While I do receive some Vega products from time to time, which I listed as an option in this recipe, I do purchase much of it on my own. It has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging. Even though most Vega products used are purchased by myself I do add this disclaimer. I do not make any money off any Vega sales or posts. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.
