Earth Day Popcorn

Decided to make a little Earth Day treat with the girls and they decided on blue and green colored popcorn! This is a fun and easy recipe to make with your kids. The color is added using gel color and agave giving it a thin hard slightly sweet taste.

Earth Day Popcorn

makes approx. 10 cups

2 bags of microwave organic, plain, unsalted, non buttered popcorn (or 10 cups air popped popcorn)

4 TBSP agave (used Raw Agave)

green and blue gel food coloring, small amount to obtain the desired color

Preheat oven to 350 and line two baking sheets with parchment paper (makes for easy clean up too!). In a large glass bowl*, if you have one with a lid that is even better and if you have 2 you can make both colors at the same time, mix 2 tablespoons of agave and one of your gel colors. Pop popcorn and pour one bag or 5 cups into the bowl. If you have a lid place lid on the bowl and this is the fun part for your kids they can shake the bowl to color the popcorn. Alternatively gently toss, or stir, the popcorn with a spoon. Pour popcorn onto one of the lined baking sheets and do the same with the other half of the popcorn and other color. Place your popcorn in the oven for approximately 7 minutes, careful not to burn it, remove and let cool. Enjoy!

*Alternatively you could try to make this in a large zip lock bag being careful not to smash the popcorn, however I have not tried this method.
