It was only a matter of time before coconut bacon made it’s way into my peanut butter banana smoothie. Peanut butter, or nut butter, and banana smoothies have to be one of those go to smoothies and a classic combo. Just as the Elvis combo of peanut butter, banana, honey, and bacon is nothing new but one of those classic that never gets old. Well at least for this peanut butter lover that loves the salty and sweet combo. Adding in agave (or honey non vegan) also is a great idea as agave is perfect post workout fuel for longer exercise or heavier load training seasons. Not that it also doesn’t add that extra layer of flavor that is good anytime. This is just one I have been loving and fits what I need on so many levels after my workouts. Especially when they are in the afternoons or when I’ve been having those salty sweet cravings. It feels like such an indulgence yet it’s healthy. Oh and it didn’t stop here… this also can be turned into a delicious smoothie bowl adding in more frozen banana to make it thick and creamy. I also put a fun little twist on it that I will also be posting soon adding another fav of mine to the combo!
Elvis Smoothie
Makes 1 serving
1c dairy free milk (So Delicious Unsweetened Almond Milk)
3 TBSP powdered peanut butter (Peanut Butter & Co Go Mighty Nut)
1/2-1 scoop protein powder, or additional 3 TBSP powdered peanut butter (Vega Sport, Vanilla)
1 frozen banana
1-2 TBSP coconut bacon (Organic Matters Coconut Bacon)
1 TBSP light agave or honey
In a Vitamix, or high speed blender, blend together milk, powdered peanut butter, protein, and frozen banana until smooth. Add in 1 tablespoon of coconut bacon and pulse to combine. Pour into glass and drizzle with agave/honey and sprinkle with additional (optional) coconut bacon. Enjoy!

While I do receive some Vega products from time to time, which I listed as an option in this recipe, I do purchase much of it on my own. It has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging. Even though most Vega products used are purchased by myself I do add this disclaimer. I do not make any money off any Vega sales or posts. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.

It is like crunchy unsweetened coconut with a bacon flavoring. So no it doesn’t taste like coconut but more like a salty crunchy thin bacon.

Yum! Do you buy or make your coconut bacon? The first time I tried, I wasn’t a fan, but there’s always second chances!
