Yes it is single digits outside and most kids would probably want to warm up with some warm hot cocoa, usually my girls are the same way. Today however was different they wanted something we make a lot of in the summer, they wanted Frozen Hot Cocoa. So we cleaned it up a little and this new version was just as good as the old traditional way!
For this frozen hot cocoa you will need:
Single serving
1c Unsweetened Almond Milk (Or other milk of choice, we used Silk Unsweetened Almond Milk)
2 TBSP Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
1tsp Stevia, Sucanat, or Coconut Sugar (or sweetener of choice, if you like really sweet chocolate you may need more )
1c ice
Coconut Milk Whipping Cream or softened Almond Milk Vanilla Bean Ice Cream (optional)
Chocolate Drizzle (optional)
Mini Marshmallows or shavings (optional)
Blend all ingredients in blender or Magic Bullet. Pour into mug or glass, add desired toppings, and enjoy!
Alternatively this can be made with a packet of hot cocoa, 1c milk, and 1c ice. We use to make this with the Starbucks Classic Hot Cocoa and top with homemade Whipping Cream but as I try to get the family to clean eating decided to try this non dairy, less sweet version to see if the girls would like it and they did.
