Every year we celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Since my grandfather passed away it has been a tradition for us to have my grandmother over, who is Irish, and cook an Irish dinner. Usually it is traditional, but sometimes we add a little non traditional but something green or shamrock shaped. With the girls we like to do a week of fun Irish and or green food and activities.
I am trying hard to clean up some traditional Irish foods yet still keep them traditional and delicious. One thing that doesn’t require any cleaning up is traditional Irish Porridge, of course it depends on how you serve it. I made the girls some traditional Irish Porridge using McCann’s Steel Cut Irish Oats in the steel can. I made it per the directions on the can, 4 cups of water and 1 cup of steel cut oats, cooking on the stove. Served with a drizzle of honey and fresh berries and bananas on the side.
Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day? Do you have any traditions?
