We’re on our own schedule over here and morning smoothies are on repeat again. This Mango Orange Key Lime Smoothie is a simple favorite with the kids.
With only four ingredients (one being ice) and 5 minutes you can whip up a delicious smoothie that’s kid approved!
Like everyone we’re over here doing the best we can with distance learning and everyone working from home. Schedules aren’t what they use to be but daily smoothies have made a comeback and are what the kids eat when they wake up instead of a traditional breakfast most mornings.
Followed by a brunch instead of lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner. We’re all on different schedules for waking and school, A has lunch at 10:50, yes lunch. Baby G was eating breakfast at 10am as he won’t wake up and eat right away, unless it’s a snack like a smoothie and/or fruit. If I try to feed him breakfast he will only drink his milk. So to go with the flow he has been having a yogurt based smoothie (sometimes it’s just yogurt and whole milk) and a clementine or blueberries (his two favorites right now) and then has brunch with his sister. If I’m making waffles or pancakes S comes up and will eat them on her lunch. This is great as it means I’m not short order cook from 7am to 1pm every day.
With only 4 ingredients (including the ice) this is a simple smoothie that even your kids can make, or help make, depending on age. Actual measurements aren’t really needed and if you use Siggi’s Key Lime Yogurt (there is also a dairy free option I list in the recipes) you can scoop the yogurt in first and use the container for measuring the rest of the ingredients. Yes this even means less dishes to wash! A cup of orange juice is just a little more than the 5.3oz container, slightly heaped over with frozen mango chunks is 1 cup, and a container of ice cubes. The recipe is pretty forgiving and doesn’t require exact measurements so we usually don’t measure but helps kids, or you, visualize the first couple times they make it.
After years of posting lots of smoothies, there are 100+ recipes on A Whisk and Two Wands, I have been posting them on Instagram (usually Stories) mostly in recent years. With views being up on smoothie posts I’m thinking about updating photos on some old favorites and posting more here. If this is something you’d find valuable leave a comment below or send me a message. If you’re looking for a particular type of smoothie let me know there is a good chance there is one on the blog or I can share one of our favorites, we have many, that aren’t posted here.

Super-healthy and super-delicious. I love adding yoghurt to smoothies for texture as well as nutrition.
In the UK, we can’t get ‘key lime’ flavour though. Other than lime (which I could add separately), is there anything else that makes it ‘key’ lime from a flavour perepsctive?

It’s only the yogurt that gives them the key lime flavor. It’s been hard to find key limes and when we do they’ve been dry so this was our simple alternative. If you have key limes you can just use regular yogurt and the flavor is more pronounced but wonderful.

I forget about using frozen mango! Great idea and I love the combo of the orange and mango. Looks refreshing

We haven’t been able to get good fresh ones here for awhile but we almost always have frozen in the freezer because it’s the girls fav.
