On Your Mark, Get Set, GO! Yes tonight is the Olympic Opening Ceremony and that brings us to the green ring and this green On Your Mark Get Set Go Smoothie Bowl! If you haven’t been following us all week with our Olympic Smoothie Bowl countdown you can read about it here.
Monday we brought you the Road To Rio Smoothie Bowl, Tuesday the Dig Deep Smoothie Bowl, Wednesday the No Guts, No Glory Smoothie Bowl, and yesterday was the Go For The Gold Smoothie Bowl. Today we have the On Your Mark, Get Set, Go Smoothie Bowl for our last Olympic Ring themed smoothie bowl!
Green smoothies are great for packing in all the nutrients! There are so many nutrients that can be packed into a green smoothie bowl and we have so many green smoothie bowls on the blog it was hard to make sure we brought something new. With that we thought about what’s important and that’s keeping it simple and delicious. One of my girls favorite green smoothies/smoothie bowls is a simple one with avocado, greens (usually baby spinach as it’s a sweeter green), and orange juice or tropical fruit like mango or pineapple. So we kept it simple, added some kiwi, and a few toppings. Since my oldest loves chia seeds and kiwi this was a win for her. For myself I add in more superfoods like sprulina, a superfood blend, and my favorite vitamin/nutritional shake Vega One. A green smoothie bowl to me is all about packing in all the vitamins and nutritional benefits possible. That said there is a starting point and what’s best for you so that is why I keep this one simple and you can add to it as need be so this is a delicious nutritious smoothie bowl that everyone can enjoy.
Now to the even more exciting news, hey if your day starts with a green smoothie bowl you are probably already pumped, but the Olympic Opening Ceremonies are tonight! Follow us on Instagram to see what the girl and I end up throwing together for dinner/snacks during the Opening Ceremony! Unfortunately it won’t be pizza or nachos as past ceremonies, maybe one of our favs a fruit or veggie platter that looks like the Olympic Rings, but hey you never know.
As I stated earlier this week on the first day of our countdown we are most excited for the gymnastics which doesn’t start until Monday but the Opening Ceremonies are always fun to watch!
On Your Mark, Get Set, Go Smoothie Bowl
Makes 1 serving
1 kiwi, peeled
big handful of spinach, I like to freeze it to keep my smoothie bowls thick
1/2 avocado frozen, pealed and pitted
1/2c frozen pineapple
1 water, orange juice, or non dairy milk of choice
optional add-ins if you want to get the most out of your smoothie bowl*
Toppings: Kiwi and chia seeds, or toppings of choice.
*I like Vega One, fitppl Superfoods Greens and Reds, sprulina, maca, wheat grass. I do not add any of these to my kids smoothie bowls and always recommend doing your own research and/or checking with your doctor before adding as I am not a doctor or nutritionist and everyone is different.
In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender with a taper tool, blend together kiwi, avocado, pineapple, liquid, and optional add-ins together until smooth. Pour into a bowl and top with kiwi and chia seeds, or toppings of choice. Enjoy!
