Oatmeal Raisin Power Balls
Oatmeal Raisin Power Balls

Mornings seem to be getting crazier and I love making power balls, experimenting with variations, so I can eat them quick and have something in my stomach before working out but not having to take the time to figure out what to make or to make it. Or if I get time in the afternoon for a workout and I need a quick snack before hand.

Today is National Raisin Day and I love oatmeal raisin cookies and were my inspiration for making these.  All the flavor of an oatmeal delicious oatmeal cookie wrapped into this nutrient packed ball.

Oatmeal Raisin Power Balls

Makes 12 balls

1/2c gluten-free oats

1 TBSP raw shelled hemp seeds

1 tsp maca powder (optional)

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 scoop vanilla protein powder (used Vega One French Vanilla)

1/3c almond butter

1/4c raisins, rough chopped

4 tsp water

In a small food processor pulse together oats, hemp seeds, maca powder, and cinnamon until oats are chopped, more if you want less texture. Add in protein powder and pulse to mix. This next step you can add in the food processor or mix by hand, I find it easier sometimes to do in a bowl so I am not scraping the mixture out and off the blade and it seems to take less time. Stir water and almond butter in until just combine. Stir in raisins and form spoonfuls of mixture into balls, I made 12 balls. Let set for about 15 minutes to dry before putting in the refrigerator or freezer if not eating them right away. They are great right out of the freezer. Enjoy!
