Orange Fig Protein Smoothie

Another “I got up and made a smoothie for breakfast and looked around and saw…smoothie”. Inspiration is all around us we just have to look around. I saw some figs and decided to add an orange for a little citrus flavor and vitamin C. Sprinkled with a hint of cinnamon this was a delicious breakfast smoothie I had to share. Of course it doesn’t have to be just for breakfast it would be good anytime of day.

Orange Fig Protein Smoothie

Makes 1 serving

1 c almond milk, or non dairy milk of choice (used So Delicious Unsweetened Almond Plus)

1 orange, peeled or juice of an orange if not using a high-powered blender or don’t want pulp

1 scoop plain or vanilla protein powder (used Vega One Natural)

3-4 dried Mission figs

1 c ice, optional

dash of cinnamon

In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend together milk, orange, protein powder, and ice together until smooth. Add figs and blend until desired consistency. I like to have mine in little chunks, small enough to fit in a straw, so there is some texture. Pour into a glass and sprinkle with a little cinnamon. Enjoy!

As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I receive Vega products, which I used as an option in this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me but because it has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging and some recipes are made with Vega products I purchase. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.
