I was on a roll the day I made this one, craving some serious peanut butter! Why I didn’t just eat some ants on a log or peanut butter and celery I am not sure but that classic favorite childhood snack was my inspiration for this shake. However the inspiration stopped there as I had a problem trying to come up with a name for it. I love my husband and how he tries to help, his suggestion was Ants in a Bog. Really?!? No ants in this one sorry but I had to giggle a little at his suggestion. You can add raisins if you want however it may change the green coloring in the shake. As I sipped my shake I also wondered what it would taste like with an apple, since apples are good with peanut butter and delicious in green shakes so that is what I whipped up the next day!
PB Celery Protein Smoothie
Makes 1 serving
1 c almond milk, or non dairy milk of choice (used So Delicious Almond Milk Plus, for extra protein)
3-4 stalks of celery, chopped
handful of green (used Earthbound Farms Power Greens Blend)
1/2 an apple, optional (I like a tart Granny Smith or Fuji with this one)
1 scoop vanilla protein powder (use Vega Viva Vanilla Protein Smoothie), optional*
2 TBSP peanut butter, or peanut butter powder (I use Peanut Butter & Co Smooth Operator or Crunch Time depending on mood, or Just Great Stuff Organic Peanut Butter Powder)
1 c ice, optional
Stalk of celery dipped in peanut butter (used Peanut Butter & Co Crunch Time) for garnish, optional
In a Vitamix, or high-speed blender, blend everything until smooth. Garnish with optional celery and peanut butter. Enjoy!
As a Vega Recipe Ambassador I receive Vega products, which I used as an option in this recipe. I use Vega not because it is given to me but because it has been my plant-based protein of choice since before I started blogging and some recipes are made with Vega products I purchase. I only write about foods I love, my blog is an extension of my hobby to make fun healthy food creations for me and my family.
