Supermom Superfood Smoothie Bowls made with love and everything she needs to fuel her with everything she needs to be a Super Mom!
If I had to pick one supermom fuel it would be smoothies and smoothie bowls! Yes I would even pick them over coffee, crazy I know since I LOVE my coffee but they really do give me more energy and stable energy at that. Not to mention they are packed with nutrition that gives my body what it needs to keep up with busy mom life. Today I’m sharing two Supermom Superfood Smoothie Bowls along with some of my other favorite go-to smoothies continuing the series we’re doing leading up to Mother’s Day! Don’t worry anyone can enjoy these recipes. The series is just dedicated to all the mama’s out there, we all have one, and simple easy to make recipes paired with activities to enjoy with mom. So easy that kids can make most by themselves, some with a little assistance depending on age.
Along with the series of recipes and activities posted here I will also be hosting a bunch of giveaways over on Instagram today is a SUPER big SUPERfood one you won’t want to miss! Giveaways will include some of my favorite things, like Navitas Superfoods, pretty pink pitaya, and “SUPER MOM” must haves. Head over to check out today’s giveaway, packed with things you can use to make these recipes!
Up until a few weeks ago I hadn’t been enjoying them nearly as often as I use, blaming the weather and long winter, to but they are still a regular staple. As the weather got warm and things got busier me juggling the blog, barre, an upcoming event at Athleta, yard work, dance, gymnastics, and S’s CRAZY soccer schedule smoothie bowls are back in full force, usually whipping them up multiple times a day. Making them for the girls for breakfast, after school before or after activities, I’ll whip one up before or after barre, they’re so easy and great way to fuel up and pack in the good for you nutrition like I said. When it comes to the warmer summer months the girls and I could probably live off smoothies and smoothie bowls and make them often with the crazy soccer (and gymnastic) schedule.
Mom life is crazy but so rewarding. If you’re a mom take time to enjoy Mother’s Day, relax, and soak up all the moments with your children whatever you end up doing. All the love or mom!
Still not sure what to do for Mother’s Day this year, what about doing something with mom? I would love to go out with the family on a bike ride, kayaking, a hike, or maybe a biek ride or walk to the park for a picnic lunch. A smoothie bowl would be perfect for breakfast to fuel mom up to do any of those activities or to enjoy after. I say smoothie bowl and not smoothie because this gives kids the option to decorate and embellish a special bowl for mom. With a little help of course depending on age cutting fruit and working the blender.
It’s like giving mom an edible piece of art!
I’ve got two versions below but if those aren’t for you, or if you’d rather whip up a smoothie here are a couple other favorites! Click on the images or links below for recipes.

Now to the two I have for you today! A Supermom Superfood Smoothie Bowl and Supermom (with pink power) Superfood Smoothie Bowl my girls decorated for me. I packed a few things into each of these and they are pretty customizable for low sugar, higher protein, different fruits depending on tastes so I will let you use mine as a guide, or one of the ones above for inspiration in creating your own and share a few of my superfood must haves (that also happen to be in the giveaway on Instagram).
Sorry this is getting to be a LONG post, if you want to know more about some of my favorite Supermom superfoods and whole food nutrition packed in these bowls keep reading otherwise scroll down for this weeks Meatless Monday link up and recipes!!
Maca is one my personal favorite superfoods and adaptogens. I add gelatinized maca to mine, not the girls! As I’ve said over and over (sorry) I love maca and it’s been a staple for so many years first for fertility reasons and more recently for balancing hormones, it’s adaptogenic like qualities that help my body deal with stress, and enhance stamina and energy. No surprise that one of the snacks I always have in my purse is Navitas Organics Maca Maple Cashews.
Chia seeds are a great source of healthy essential fatty acids, containing more omega-3 fatty acids than salmon! They also contain protein and fiber, being one of the easiest digestible plant proteins. The little seeds are also packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and antioxidants. S is my chia queen but we both love our chia seeds. If you tried them and aren’t a fan add them to smoothies, you won’t know they are there and it’s a great way to add nutrition and use them up.
Matcha supports energy and alertness but at the same time is calming, it’s crazy like that! It’s packed with antioxidants and we’re talking about 10 times as much per cup compared to green tea. It not only gives me the energy but I feel so much more focused when drinking a matcha latte and a sense of calm verses crazy. No wonder it’s good for balanced energy and reducing stress. I’ve been trying to cut down the coffee (as much as I love it) and adding in more matcha. There are also numerous studies that matcha and green tea help reduce breast cancer risks, since I’m at higher risk even more reason to love it. The nutritional and antioxidant content in one cup of matcha is the same as about 10 glasses of green tea.
Turmeric is a staple, especially for recovery. Turmeric supports a healthy immune system as it’s packed with antioxidants and includes great anti-inflammatory properties. I didn’t realize when I first fell in love that it can also help fight against oxidative stress in the body. I go into more detail about the amazing health benefits of turmeric in my Tropical Turmeric Smoothie Bowl post.
Navitas Organics Essential Superfood blends are packed with complete proteins, fiber, digestive enzyme support, antioxidants, and superfoods all in in one. I like adding a scoop or two to my smoothies or smoothie bowls to get in extra nutrition when I need it. I used the Vanilla & Greens in as an option in the smoothie bowls below, it also comes in Cacao & Greens.
Navitas Organic Daily Beauty Boosts is just one of the boosts that Navitas has carefully formulated each blend with a combination of superfoods that focus on an area of wellness in one easy to use blend. The Beauty Blend is like a fountain of youth packed with antioxidants, nutrients, essential vitamins and minerals to support skin, hair, and nail health.
I use Navitas Organics products and have been for many years (over 8 years, that’s as far back as I can remember). In past years have been a Navitas Insider (currently applying for renewal) and featured on their website. This means I support them, their mission, and believe in their products. Navitas products are staples in our kitchen. I do not get compensated for being an Insider but from time to time get early access to try new products and discounts (normally I just order on Amazon though, love my Prime). This also means I get to share the love for products I’m so passionate about and host Navitas Organics giveaways like the one on Instagram.
All of these are options in these smoothies or others linked above. Here are a couple of the wholefood ingredients in the smoothie bowls below and why they’re favorites in our house.
Pitaya, also known as dragon fruit, is rich in magnesium which helps with energy but also helps relax muscles and nerves (perfect post workout or afternoon when I am often more stressed). It’s also a great source of iron, high in fiber, rich in B2 and vitamin C (hello immune boost), and rich in antioxidants! We use Pitaya Plus, which is also part of the giveaway over on Instagram.
Bananas are one of the top pre-workout foods and for good reason. They’re loaded with simple carbs (fuel) and potassium which helps with muscle function before your workout. They also make this smoothie creamy. I don’t like adding a lot of banana to smoothies but in this one it works and gives me the energy I need. If you want you can sub avocado (lower sugar and carb, healthy fats) or do half banana and half avocado.
Mangos are naturally sweet and packed with vitamins and minerals but I’ve heard many times they are actually low on the glycemic index. Honestly I added it mostly for flavor in this one but still provides nutrition. They are always in our house as they are S’s favorite fruit.
I know there have been mixed feelings about smoothies (bowls) over the years as they can be packed with sugar from the fruit. We try to balance them and I have a couple thoughts on them.
First we generally have smoothies as a meal and when they’re a snack are conscious about what is in them and why we’re enjoying them. Post workout for example making sure to get in some carbs and lots of plant protein. We don’t make a huge smoothie or smoothie bowl to drink in addition to a full meal.
Second I try to think about it not in a smoothie. Would we sit down and eat a banana, cup of berries, greens, ect in one sitting. Usually the answer is YES because we eat a lot of fruits and veggies and I have no problem with the girls grabbing a half a cantaloupe or watermelon and eating it for a snack.
I try to cut unnecessary sugar, using unsweetened milk and using frozen cauliflower, avocado, or other things if I’m looking to cut it even more.
At the end of the day though I feel whole food nutrition trumpets processed foods (not that we don’t enjoy our treats, it’s about balance) they could be eating and it’s what works for us. Not to mention the girls (all of us) are VERY active and need the fuel and I’m trying to teach them to listen to their bodies and determine what they need. They know there are things that they don’t feel good after eating and they need to learn to make choices about what they put in their bodies, yes with guidance but at bright 9 and 14 years old they are allowed to have the freedom to decide what they will eat most of the time.
What are you doing with Mom for Mother’s Day?
If you’re here for Meatless Monday, I look forward to seeing what’s happening in your kitchen and hope you link up with me and my co-host Deborah. I also hope you check out and are inspired by the recipes linked up below.

When adding in 1 scoop of Navitas Organics Essential Blend the color is still pink but when adding 2 or adding Daily Boost and or greens the color will be more of a dark purple wine color.
If wanting bright pink stick to bananas, pineapple, and or mango for fruit, or a combination with red berries (berries alone may be darker), don't add greens, and add only 1 scoop of Essential Blend.
If topping your bowl with something like kiwi or berries as we did cut out your shapes and blend remaining fruit pieces into your smoothie!
