With Mother’s Day less than a week away I’m dedicating this post to all the MOMS out there. We all have one and I’m going to tell you it’s one of the hardest, thankless, yet rewarding jobs out there. Do something special for you mom to show her you love her. Today, tomorrow, Mother’s Day or any day it can be a simple phone call, letter, card, breakfast in bed, or just waking her up with a coffee in hand or this Wonder Mom Watermelon Strawberry Dragon Fruit Smoothie.

Making smoothie bowls and smoothie bowls with the girls makes me smile. Last Mother’s Day we got to spend it hosting an event at Athleta and sharing some fun smoothie combos and giveaways. Like one of my favs….SuperMom Superfood Smoothie Bowl or one of the many included in the post.

This year for Mother’s Day I just want to spend the day with the family. Maybe the girls will make me a smoothie or pancakes in bed. Maybe we can fit in a trip to the market. If there was one thing I would want it would be SLEEP!

I honestly forgot how exhausting being a mom of a newborn is since the girls are 10 and 15. Even more tiring trying to keep up with the schedule we had before Baby G was born 7 weeks ago. I keep trying to pretend I’m supermom and can get it all done but most days I’m lucky to eat breakfast, lunch, and shower before dinner. Or maybe I get that shower in but washing my hair and doing my make-up forget it most days. Between getting Baby G in and out of the car seat to get the girls to and from school and feeding him my day pretty much disappears.

Not to be rude but when people compliment me and think I have my sh*t together and everything under control I just want to laugh. Again not to be mean. I guess maybe I should be happy that I appear to have it together.

My goal was to have a schedule down by 6 weeks and just when I thought we did things changed. This week Baby G has been up most of the day, and usually happy. Which is good but makes getting things done a little harder and I miss that hour I had to eat, prep food, do dishes, ect. Add getting cleared to workout last week I’m struggling to justify working out when I have laundry to catch up on or a list of things to do but I’m hoping to fit in 2 classes a week. While I would love to go more right now 2 classes will be pushing it to fit into the families schedule as I will have to go at night. Add having to feed him just before leaving and when I get back it really takes planning and isn’t as simple as just finding someone to watch him.

At this point the girls only have a few weeks of school left so even if we got a schedule down it will change again soon anyways. Honestly it will take a little pressure off things not having to do drop off and pick ups but summers also tend to get busy and a little crazy.

The weather seems to have hit spring finally so I’m hoping to get out and walk and get some fresh air which will be nice.

With nice weather comes not only getting outside but SMOOTHIE SEASON!! Don’t get me wrong I love them year round but smoothies and smoothie bowls are on repeat in the warmer months and often multiple times a day.

This simple Wonder Mom Watermelon Strawberry Dragon Fruit Smoothie might sound like a mouthful but it’s simple and makes me smile! A simple combination of hydrating watermelon water (I like drinkSimple that isn’t your “average” watermelon water), sweet strawberries, lemon, and pitaya. I’ve added some optional additions I like to add-in, pick one or a couple to fit your needs and add nutrition.

Still haven’t tried pitaya, aka dragon fruit, it’s in the freezer section of most grocery stores now.
It’s rich in magnesium which helps with energy but also helps relax muscles and nerves (perfect post workout or afternoon when I am often more stressed). It’s also a great source of iron, high in fiber, rich in B2 and vitamin C (hello immune boost), and rich in antioxidants!

Mom, mother, mama, mommy, whatever you call yours please tell her or show her how much you love her and or appreciate her. You might think she knows but really just the simplest gesture will make her day. I can be having the worst day, no sleep, and just one hug or I love you from the girls will make my day and make it all worth it.
